Professor Ramzi Khamis is a Consultant Cardiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and holds the Wu Family Endowed Chair of Cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He is an internationally recognised consultant and academic cardiologist, specialising in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular risk stratification, and innovating advanced diagnostics for coronary artery disease.
After graduating from the University of Bristol, Professor Khamis trained at leading UK institutions including Barts and the Royal London, with specialist fellowships at the Hammersmith Hospital. He has earned major distinctions such as the British Cardiovascular Society Young Research Worker of the Year Award and the CRT Young Leader in Interventional Cardiology Award, and serves as convener of internationally acclaimed scientific meetings in atherosclerosis and risk. Professor Khamis leads teams developing new interventional technologies, blood tests, and cardio-immune strategies to improve the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease and high-risk atherosclerosis.
His research combines translational and clinical science, focusing on linking immune system pathways to cardiovascular disease and bringing innovative solutions from bench to bedside. Professor Khamis is a renowned educator and frequent keynote speaker on global cardiovascular care, and heads the high-risk atherosclerosis and cardio-immune clinic at Imperial.
